Downtown Fayetteville, NC Happenings ~ Parking Deck’s North Wall Gap Filled, 11/05

The deck was built with steel beams extending from this wall to support scaffolding to lay the brick. Following, the beams were removed and the gap filled. See recent articles for details. I think the scaffolding will be removed soon.

Downtown Fayetteville, NC Happenings ~ Parking Deck Scaffolding Supports Removed, 10/22

I often wondered why these steel girders were added to the construction as they were. Then, as the brick facade was going up, I concluded they were there to support the scaffolding for the bricklaying. Now, that the north wall is completed, what happens to the girders—they have been removed.

Downtown Fayetteville, NC Happenings ~ Parking Deck’s Expanding Facade, 10/18

The north wall [closest to the stadium] scaffolding is down. The wall is nearly finished. For the remainder of the structure, I think lots of brick will be laid next week. The south wall panels are up. I am waiting to see what covers the holes where there is no brick. It is quite interesting to check construction periodically during the week. The next week or so will be quite revealing…

Imagine a 7-story and a 5-story building on top of the deck. If I recall, that’s an office complex and hotel respectively. The finished structure will be Fayetteville’s tallest building. It will tower over SEGRA Stadium.

My friend Mark Lafayette says:

I talked to the construction manager yesterday and he said they are only going to open the bottom 2 floors and it will now be end of November. He said they had major drainage issues that required the City to fix.
