The last weeks have been simply amazing, from scenic fly-bye to raven visits, and intruder battles—both on the ground and in flight. The collage above shows but a few. My Flickr Big Bear Eagle Cam Album now has 133 of my screen-grabs, with 117 visits. Some of the pics are now at the top of My 2020 Flickr Most Interesting [25] Album. Come see them for yourself. Nature ~ Big Bear Bald Eagle Cam, 02/23/2020

Wow! I am liking the 32 screen grabs [captures] I have made of these two bald eagles—Jackie & Shadow. I have observed them for nearly a week now as they make every effort to give to this world 2 additional bald eagles. Although, it is doubtful for this clutch—I feel certain the future will bring us more offspring from this pair.

The opportunity to capture their nesting and related pictures would not be possible without many others—the U.S. Forest Service – San Bernardino, Facebook’s Big Bear Lake Bald Eagles Group, the YouTube Big Bear Eagle Cam, Friends of Big Bear Valley, the live chats, the moderators, and especially the camera operators who give viewers the moments that we can savor and maybe, just maybe capture Jackie & Shadow living their truths and impressing us all. I am happy to have been able to record a few of my impressions. Enjoy…

I know there are countless others who support this effort, the Friends of Big Bear Valley being one. They installed and maintain the camera that we enjoy to watch the nest. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization they need public support. You can donate to them at their site.

Nature ~ Big Bear Bald Eagle Cam–Special Video Segment, 02/22/2020

This video by Cali Condor from live feed from a bald eagle nest at Big Bear Lake, California provided by the Friends of Big Bear Valley.

Screengrabs [28] captured by me from the live feed above in this Flickr Album also in the article I published yesterday.

Screen Grab captured at 9:28 pm PST, with Jackie [she pulls the night shift] on the nest. Conditions seem harsh to us, eagles brave it well, as did my chickens in cold temps and in snow. Today–sunshine…

Nature ~ Big Bear Bald Eagle Cam, 02/22/2020

I have been on hatch-watch for two eaglets in Jackie & Shadow [bald eagles]. Neither egg hatched at the hoped for 35-days or after—up to 44 days [according to the U.S. Forest Service – San Bernardino National Forest {comment below}]. Many of the 5K+ Big Bear Cam Followers are saddened that the eggs have not hatched. Nature is awesome…

Snow fell today at Big Bear Lake and the surrounding area. I made several screen grabs, posted above and in this Flickr Album. These are even more special because the camera operator panned the area, even showing us Shadow away from the nest. Enjoy the pictures and hope for the best for Jackie & Shadow…

Meal ~ Super Bowl LIV, Sunday, 02/02/2020

A casserole that lasted 5 days, with some saved for later. I modified a Homestyle Ground Beef Casserole recipe my sister-in-law [Doris Mason-Griffin] sent me months ago. Instead of ground beef, I substituted shredded chicken. I added yellow onion, garlic, mushrooms, rosemary, hot pepper, and bacon. I varied the ingredients to suit my taste. I did not pre-cook the egg noodles. I cooked this Saturday before the game. It goes well with a salad and cranberry sauce.

I expect to cook this again at some point—maybe Super Bowl LV. Anyway, I will likely use flaked wild pacific salmon instead of chicken.

Photography ~ Market House Sunrise, 01/29

This is the first of two sunrises of the year where the sun rises due east of the Market House. This follows winter solstice as sunrises appear to move to the north before they again trek southward after sumer solstice. Then, we can see the second of the referenced sunrises on November 11th—Veterans Day [my 2019 pics].

Flickr Album with all of my Market House sunrise pictures.
