Fayetteville, NC SEGRA Stadium Update, 03/07

Getting down to the wire…

Today marks two weeks since I took pictures of SEGRA Stadium. I hope to capture obvious changes this afternoon. It also marks three weeks and a day to substantial completion—03/29 and five weeks and two days to Opening Day Celebrations [Dubbed: First Fan Look]—04/13, noon-3:00 pm. That is five days to the home opener—04/18 @ 7:00 pm.

It appears much is yet to be done. From now until First Fan Look, I plan to take pics every two weeks unless I see lots of changes in between. I checked last Thursday and did not find a lot different from my 02/21 shoot. The scoreboard is more complete. It appears huge!

Stay tuned…

Fayetteville, NC SEGRA Stadium Update, 02/22

The Club Level is named–Aevex Veterans Club

“AEVEX Aerospace specializes in airborne intelligence solutions — things that fly, things with cameras, other sensors, and then the intelligence that goes along with it,” Ferriol said. “We have 500 employees worldwide. We manage 200 of those a block away in our intelligent business solutions unit. I imagine a lot of those employees will be frequenting the stadium to see some baseball games and events and we look forward to seeing everybody out there.”

History ~ Prince Charles Hotel, One of Two Early 20th Century Hotels in Fayetteville, North Carolina

The other was Hotel Lafayette–built in 1725 and destroyed by fire February 8, 1995.

Our country has quite a history as reflected by its buildings, its people, and their cultures. We must never forget the Native Americans whose land this was before being taken by European settlers.

We look at structures and admire their beauty.  They have a storied history reflective of where they are. In this case, the two hotels I point out thrived in Fayetteville, North Carolina–the south. They were not places where Colored-Negros-African Americans-Blacks were welcomed or permitted to stay or to dine until more modern times–the official end of the Jim Crow era.
